It’s so tempting to bask in the glow of having run a successful campaign and take a few days off to rest up after burning the midnight oil far too many days in a row, but the truth is we’ve only just begun. Because Unite To Heal was never just about fundraising – it was about raising awareness, opening up conversations, showing support and, of course, bringing in desperately needed funds so that we can be there to answer the calls for help that continue flooding our office.

All of us at Amudim were astonished by the response to the campaign which so far has had 10,281 donors and 37 sponsors raising $5,049,809 through 83 fundraising teams and by the time you read this, our totals may have climbed even higher.  While Amudim’s main office may be physically located in New York, it is clear that our message resonates globally, with Unite To Heal’s livestream garnering just shy of 617,000 views from the USA, Israel, Canada, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, South Africa, Australia, Mexico and France.  Our donor base was equally varied, with contributions pouring in from 261 cities in 32 states and 15 countries around the world.

Those numbers are unbelievably gratifying to me and my staff but, most importantly, to the many out there who are struggling with mental health issues and to victims of sexual abuse and addiction.  Seeing the over 100 Rabbonim, educators, entertainers and other well-known personalities stepping up for them, and watching the number of donors climb steadily north of 10,000 sent them a powerful message. It showed them that they weren’t alone. That people care about them. That the community supports them.   And that help is out there.

The campaign’s ripple effect is already being felt this week at our office where we were able to hire two new case managers and we received 1,326 calls during working hours, 78 help requests on the Amudim website and 275 after-hours emergency calls.  Baruch Hashem, our staff was able to resolve many of those issues in a phone call or two without having to put them under actual case management, with 110 cases opened this week alone.

There is no doubt that Unite To Heal was a success because it was a team effort and I need to extend a special thank you to Israel Schachter, CharityBids, Marshall Haber, Dov Friedman, Gabi Shull, Nikki Schreiber, Yeeshai Gross, Danny Schilo, Flowmotion, Nachum Segal and Miriam Wallach for going above and beyond the call of duty.  While we are humbled to have exceeded Unite To Heal’s $5 million goal, Amudim still needs your help to meet our annual $6.5 million budget.  Since it is clear that the number of people reaching out for help is on the upswing given the current realities, we are confident that our budget will be increasing in 2021 – please click here www.unitetoheal.com to continue supporting Amudim.

We’ve come so far and yet there is still so much more for us to do.

There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude to you for being there for us so that we can continue to be a lifeline to those in need.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you and thank you again for being a part of Unite To Heal and helping us change lives and build futures.

We work every day to change the lives of those in need. We need your help to continue these efforts.
