Dear Amudim Family,
Pain and grief take their toll in many ways; and when left unresolved, their impact does not magically disappear. We at Amudim know all too well that we often can’t control the causes of trauma, but we are committed to alleviating its effects, and helping anyone struggling to heal and ensure a better future reality.
Yaakov’s* childhood was marred by the loss of several close relatives whom he loved and relied on for support; he unfortunately turned to drugs to numb the pain. This addiction remained with him into his adult years to the point where it was affecting his family and responsibilities.
Yaakov’s wife reached out to Amudim when after many failed attempts to get her husband help, she had finally convinced him to go into rehab again; but she needed support to find the right program before Yaakov gave up hope and abandoned any attempt at recovery.
Our case manager spoke to those who had been involved in Yaakov’s prior treatment to get a full understanding of the case. He then worked to find a rehab program that would better fit Yaakov’s needs and supported him through the intake process. Our case manager also referred Yaakov’s wife to a therapist and recommended several support groups for families dealing with addiction to ensure that she get the care she needed for herself as well.
We have continued to follow up, and thankfully, Yaakov’s wife tells us that he recently returned home from rehab with a changed mindset and a desire and commitment to continue his path to recovery and a happier future for himself and his family.
