Update: October 14, 2023
Beginning Sunday 10/14/2023 all US citizens and their immediate family members may arrive at Ben Gurion Airport’s Terminal 3 and approach the desk for US citizens, located on the 2nd floor of the terminal. There will be numerous flights departing, to either Athens or Frankfurt, and passengers will be placed, on a first come, first serve basis.
Each traveler must be a US citizen or an immediate family member, such as a spouse or children under age 21 of a US citizen. Each passenger must hold a valid passport. if a traveler has an expired U.S. passport, a lost U.S. passport, or is eligible for a U.S. passport but was never issued one – they may show up Monday morning at the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem and will be accepted as a walk in.
Family members who are not US citizens must be eligible for entry to the destination country.
Please note that passengers will be asked to sign an agreement to repay the U.S. government. However, no exact amount has been released.
Passengers may not all br able to choose their destination. This arrangement could challenging for some passengers, who will be therefore be unable to plan onward flights or lodging ahead of time.
Both Delta and United have increased their number of flights from Athens to New York/Newark, to accommodate passengers arriving from Israel. There are many commercial flights daily from Frankfurt to the USA.
There will also be options to evacuate via sea starting Monday. Details of that option will hopefully be finalized and made available tomorrow
