A Time to Heal
June 30, 2023

If we could convey one message to as many people as possible, it is that no one should have to deal with his/her challenges alone, and that outside support is often essential to healing, and never anything to be ashamed of seeking out.

Leora*, a 34 year-old living a significant distance away from her family, called us for support related to chronic anxiety and depression with which she has struggled for many years. Leora’s symptoms had reached the point where they were significantly impacting her personal and professional life, leading to strained relationships and difficulty in maintaining steady employment. She had tried various self-help methods, but was finding it challenging to manage her mental health on her own. Leora reached out to Amudim after seeing a therapist’s post on Instagram that mentioned our mental health resources.

Our case manager noted that Leora’s anxiety and depression had become debilitating, interfering with her ability to function effectively in daily life. Leora required therapeutic intervention to address her mental health concerns and develop coping strategies to improve her overall well-being. We were able to connect Leora with an experienced therapist, who while she doesn’t take insurance, charges a manageable fee. Leora is currently attending weekly sessions and checks in with her case manager twice a month. She is also scheduled to see a psychiatrist to assess whether medication can help reduce her acute symptoms while Leora is working on her journey towards healing and peace of mind. We are hopeful that with time and support, Leora will reach a healthier, balanced and happier place in her life.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Amudim is just a phone call away and here to help.
