While every individual yearns for his/her “happily ever after,” it is not often a simple or direct process to achieve that dream. Barriers from our past and present can exist that hinder us from finding what we need and want. But with the right support and resources and faith in what’s possible, that goal can become a reality.

Boruch*, a 26 year-old man who is seeking a marriage partner, reached out to Amudim after seeing an ad for our support services on Instagram. He was feeling depressed because he felt that he was unable to forge a real connection with anyone he had dated, and he felt like he would never be able to get married.

Once the case manager reassured Boruch that his situation was certainly nothing to be ashamed of while leaning into his suffering and validating his feelings, Boruch shared a bit about his childhood, noting that his mother has not been a part of his life since a young age and that he still feels the pain of that loss. Boruch also believes that he has poor social skills and does not have many friends; he spends most of his days feeling sad and alone. The case manager encouraged him to see a therapist who could help him work through his past trauma and assist him in developing skills and tools to forge meaningful relationships. Boruch readily agreed to take this healthy step forward.

At that point, the case manager discussed potential options with Boruch and helped guide him through the initial stages of the therapy process. We are happy to report that Boruch began weekly sessions, and he is thriving and feeling confident about his future dating prospects. While Boruch still struggles and has a long road in front of him to find his bashert and build a successful marriage and family, he is healing and hopeful about what lies ahead.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Amudim is just a phone call away and here to help.
